The ARC's Keep On Coming.

Hey everyone. Good news I have a few more books coming my way soon. I am also hoping to do some reviews and work with some amazing author's I just discovered today.
My friend Marie was also telling me about two of her favorite author's today as well. Maybe I can hit them up.  One I can't remember thanks to my ignorance of not saving previous messages on Yahoo messenger. LOL!

Everlasting Kiss by Amanda Ashley

After much procrastination and winter blues...I am ready to do the review. Are you ready? :)

Daisy O’Donnell doesn’t get the attraction some women feel for vampires. She likes her men with a pulse. And she’s just met one who’s full of life: Erik Delacourt, the unreasonably sexy man she keeps meeting at a popular L.A. nightclub called the Crypt. She barely knows him, but there’s no resisting the connection she feels…

There’s one important detail Erik hasn’t gotten around to telling her yet. He’s a powerful vampire out to hunt the Blood Thief who is draining young vampires all over the city—and who has just raised the stakes by destroying one of Erik’s friends. To Erik, Daisy is a bright spot of innocence in a world of darkness and menace. He’ll do anything—even lie to her—to keep her safe and pure.

If only he knew that Daisy has something of her own to hide…

Wow, she did it again. This is only the second book I've read from her but Amanda's work just fascinates me. If I were to think of this book as a recipe, the ingredients of my favorite vamp books would be as follows
1 part Twilight
1 part Moonlight
1 part Buffy
1 part Blade
dash of Interview with the Vampire
Directions: Shake well

It was such a compelling read. I spent the whole day I recieved the copy, laid up in bed enthralled with the words coming off the page. So vivid I can imagine this book to grow into an awesome movie. Or so I can hope. The story revolves around a vamp hunter, Daisy, who mysteriously falls in love with the "hunted." The novel flows so beautifully that, like Twilight, you are on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's next. A little bit of love, sex & gore- what more could I ask for? There were two lines that really hit me in a personal view. The first being "He had never made light of her fears..." This one spoke to me in a comedic sense because my Grandma, Nanny, has what we call her own language. She has been the only person I have ever known of to use "make light." Thanks Mandy for the laugh. :P The other one I can't find the location but it's basically referring to a character who doesn't like to chat on the phone and much rather prefers online communication. Hmmm does that remind you of anyone? ME! Hello! HA!

As the book was nearing it's last pages, there was a dramatic turn of events that I ended up crying. Bleh. :) I am so excited for book two to come out in October this year. Keep up the good work Mandy. Until next time...

Upcoming Reviews to Look for

While I am on here I wanted to give you all a glimpse of some upcoming reviews. I have 6 books coming, 5 are from Harlequin. I know! They still haven't shipped me my items yet! I'm beginning to wonder if they're a reliable source or not. However I am giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Harlequin books:
Intertwined by Gena Showalter

2 books from their "Love Inspired" series
2 books from their "Silhouette Nocturne" series (can't wait for these you all know me and horror!)
(Of course the book sent to the wrong addy, and the package for Christmas. Neither have arrived yet!)

In addition to horror, I would like to make my blog more diverse. I am also getting a copy of
Even the Demon's Believe by Timothy Williams

Sometimes in life we have to take chances, as I am doing with this religous book. I feel it may be extremely hard for me to do a review considering how much I despise religous/political conversations. I will be treading very lightly. :) So stay tuned for a plethera of new reviews.

Care Package from Amanda Ashley

Hey readers! Monday I was blessed with a package straight from Amanda. She sent me a cover jacket to "Madeline Bakers" June 2010 release of her upcoming book, an ARC of Everlasting Kiss by Amanda, & 5 mini postcard sized covers of her books. Do you all want to know the even better part? Sure I know you do! She was so sweet to autograph each item. Crazzzzzzzzy I know. I was having such a bad morning and then they arrived and lifted my spirits. I am about 95 pages and finished with the book. I plan on having the review posted for you all sometime late evening today. I will post a few pix of the items sent below. Stay tuned in tomorrow for yet another review on a really awesome book coming out in February 2010.

Amanda Ashley Update

Hey readers! Well, I've been busy with college stuff, and various Native American events (some of you know I am Native - Mingo). So I apologize for not writting anything lately. I'm fighting with the library trying to get various copies of books in which they seem to not even have in their catalogs. So sad. :( However I logged onto Amanda Ashley's website today and seen a great reply. Here it is:

Dear Amanda, Is the link to my book review blog. I added your link for my readers. I just posted the review on there. Hopefully I expressed my appreciation properly. Best wishes for you, your family, and your creativity.

Hi Steven ~ thanks for your great review. If you email me your snail mail addy, I'll send you an ARC for Everlasting Kiss. I'm adding your link to my page. Best, Mandy 1/12/10

How sweet is it that she is going to do this for me. :) I am forever grateful and excited to get a new book to indulge myself in, as well as a great book for a great blog- eh?! So excited! I am still waiting on Harlequin to get their stuff together and correct the errors in sending my ARC's elsewhere. :( Brats.

Immortal Sins by: Amanda Ashley (Review)

Wow, in only 2 days did I read this book, majorily due to distractions and oversleeping.  This is the first book I read since 2009, and the first book by Amanda as well. What a great way to start a new year. I actually just finished it about 10 minutes ago after staying up all night just to do so. Like I said, I am so happy to have been gifted this book by my Mom. I was hesitant, thinking that it was a novel that just wasn't my type of reading material. I couldn't have been so wrong. It was such a wonderful supernatural journey filled with wizards, witches, vampires, and even educational history. I loved the vampire lore twist that Amanda gave. I have never heard of many of them like she had described. Being a predominantly vampire genre fan, it made me giggle inside learning different abilities and "ways of living" that her characters posessed. This is another of them rare books that has that paradoxially (if that's even a word?) ending. You know what I mean. That kind of story that just keeps you on the edge until the last few pages. As you read them you're mad as hell at the ending, but in your mind you're like..."well it couldn't have ended any better." LOL!

Today I am venturing to the wonderful world that few of us know and love, while other's are clueless into the magical realm it can take them- called a library, to get a few more of Amanda's books to keep me enthralled these wintery months. She has a special power all her own, it may not be supernatural, but the magic she posesses in creating her novels is just immeasurable! (Damn, that really sounded like a real book critic!) :) I left Amanda a brief comment on her website and I will post it below to let you all see what she has said. Thanks again Amanda for the magical journey you took me and all your other readers on. God Bless!

Dear Amanda,

Since Twilight has ended, I've been at a loss for a great vampire saga to escape reality. I've never heard of you until yesterday when my Mom came home and said she got me a new vampire book to read, Immortal Sins. While it isn't a saga, it's not even been a full 24 hours and I am already more than halfway finished with the book. I was hesitant at first, being fearful it was another Harlequin romance novel-type. Thankfully I was wrong, and glad I was brave enough to give it a shot. I am excited to obtain the other vampire books in your collection. I quickly browsed your site and I have to say you're my new favorite author. I recently began reviewing new books for companies and Immortal Sins, will be my next blog addition. I have so much more to say but I will add that to my blog and save room for your other fans. :P

P.S. I seen your favorite vampire reads. If you can find a book titled "Sins of the Blood" by Kristin Kathryn Rusch, which is what caused my vampire obsession, I do believe you will enjoy it.

Hi Steven ~ Thank you for your comments. I'm delighted to be your new favorite author. And please thank your Mom for finding me a new reader!!!! While I don't write sagas, I do have a 4 book series (Night's Kiss, Night's Touch, Night's Master and Night's Pleasure). A 5th book, Night's Mistress, is a distinct possibility. I would love to read your review of my book. Also, next time you stop by, please leave a link to your blog so we can check it out. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to see if I can find it. Mandy 1/9/10

Immortal Sins by: Amanda Ashley

"Three centuries ago, vampire Jason Rourke succumbed to temptation with a wizard’s lovely daughter—and that brief taste of pleasure earned him a powerful curse. Trapped within a painting, unable to quench the hellish thirst that torments him, Jason has given up hope of escape until Karinna Adams purchases the painting and unwittingly frees him.

At first, Jason plans only to enlist Kari’s help in navigating this strange new world so he can find and punish the wizard who entrapped him. But Kari’s enticing sensuality and innocence incite a growing need in Jason to touch and taste her, to possess her utterly. For the gulf between them—and the danger that awaits—is nothing compared to a potent, primal hunger that will last for all eternity… "

Well I am still awaiting the arrival for the Harlequin romance novel. Creator must have intervened somehow. Yesterday my mom came home and gifted me this book. Since Twilight, I haven't found any books that have held my attention except for Godmother (see previous blog). I haven't even had this book for a full day yet and I am already more than halfway through it. It is so captivating, and some of the vampire myth's the author uses are FREAKING AWESOME! I'm like, why didn't I think of that?! I quickly browsed her website and was in awe. A STAR WARS FAN AS WELL! *Sigh* If I weren't gay, I'd be in love. LMAO! She is another author who just has the capability to write well with an added sense of quirky humor. I can't wait to finish reading the book so I can obtain the others. Maybe I can bribe her into letting me get some ACR's for the blog? What do you think? You can view her site at Amanda writes in many genre's in addition to her vampire collection. Check her site out. Will post another blog when the book is finished.

New Blog Coming Soon...

I have a new ARC coming soon. For some reason it was shipped to the wrong addy and is delaying my reading enjoyment. It is from Harlequin books, which we all know is famous for their "steamy" romance novels. I have never read one, but from the person the book was sent to they rave it was just so good they couldn't put it down. Sounds hot and steamy to me! :) So after the book arrives and I complete it I will be posting another review. Stay tuned. Best wishes to all of you and your families both immediate and extended, because in this life...we are all family.
